Judit Gueth
|
Judit Gueth was born in Hungary to a Biology and Geography teacher whose own passion for Hungarian folk art and nature inspired Judit’s love of colour, pattern and design. At the tender age of 19 Judit travelled to Canada as a Nanny to try and improve her English. Judit found herself mesmerised by Canada and never left. After studying Illustration at the Ontario College of Art and Design, Judit left the college to further her studies; and in 2004 Judit received a Bachelor of Design degree. The path towards designing her own wallpaper was not a straightforward one. As Judit originally worked for a children’s clothing company working on their pattern repeats. It was here however that Judit’s passion for patterns was strengthened. After leaving the company Judit embarked on a Government supported programme at the Toronto Business Development Centre to be able to set up her own business. On leaving the programme Judit was excited about printing her own designs; but hampered by printing costs Judit found away round this by printing fabrics using her own inkjet. The business started by printing cards and grew when Judit found the confidence to launch her own wallpaper. Judit’s love of the Arts and Craft movement and the Art Nouveau scene are evident in her strong fluid patterns; with her wallpapers being extremely evocative of this period. This is a designer to watch. Wall-Library is the only UK distributor of Judit Gueth Wallpapers. |
